Making Connections. Empowering Youth. More about us »

Teton Mentor Project is a vital program in our community that need not only to continue but to expand to high school aged students. To accomplish this, community support is necessary.

Mission

Empowering youth by establishing and supporting a connection with a caring adult who encourages them to discover strengths and achieve potential

What we do

The Teton Mentor Project is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of Jackson youth through the guidance and inspiration of mentor relationships. We are a school-based program that began in January 2008 with a federally-funded grant, evolving from the community-based mentor program, WeeCare Mentoring. We connect adult volunteers with local students and support the relationship for the duration of the match.

Our Mentors

Mentors meet with a young person four hours a month for a minimum of one year. The mentors are community members of all ages, professions, backgrounds and interests. From ski instructors, to teachers, to retired business executives our mentors run the gamut of experiences and interests. Adults who successfully competes the application process are invited to be matched with a youth.

Our Kids

Are on the brink of success and would thrive if their potential was tapped! They are 2nd through 8th graders who have been nominated by their teacher, school counselor or parent to join the program. All are kids who could use additional support and friendship!

Our Matches

After three initial meetings at school, mentor matches can participate in off campus activities with parent permission. Through community partnerships, TMP offers positive personal development, academic, cultural and community services activities. While we are a one-to-one mentoring program, we also host group activities to celebrate the new and established friendships! Through involvement in the program and connecting to other local organizations, our young people can become active and engaged members of the community.
